"Dark Blue Tennessee (Piano Version)" is the piano version of one of Taylor Swift's unreleased songs.
Taylor tells a tragic story of a boy and a girl who broke up, and the boy keeps calling her, saying that his life is better now without her. Every time they talk on the phone, she whispers back how much she misses him, but only after they hang up. She comes close to calling him one night, but finds out she is too late after reading a suicide note from him. She learns that he was only lying about his life being better, and she could've potentially prevented his death by calling him.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
He said, "I got me a nice new apartment"
"In a city, wouldn't you have hated that?"
"I'm getting by with a broken heart you left me with"
He hangs up the phone and she whispers back
[Chorus]
Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow
Won't you come back to me?
I'll be here, today and here tomorrow
In dark blue Tennessee
[Verse 2]
He was lying when he said he moved to L.A.
He's just hiding out on the other side of town
With his head in his hands and she's just seven miles away
He's staring out the window and puts her picture down, saying
[Chorus]
Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow
Won't you come back to me?
I'll be here, today and here tomorrow
In dark blue Tennessee
[Bridge]
She almost called him on the night that he wrote
These simple words on his goodbye note
[Chorus]
Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow
Won't you come back to me?
I'll be here, today and here tomorrow
In dark blue Tennessee
In dark blue Tennessee
